Nope. I was awake most of the time when I was a statue.

[That's not her shifting closer, Ed. That's Charlie trying to get comfortable. She swears this bed is part rocks. Charlie rolls onto her side, curling up slightly, facing Ed.]

Sounds like it. Sounds like that story about the guy who was awake for surgery the whole time but was paralyzed by the stuff they gave him so he couldn't so much as blink.

I've heard stories about that kind of thing. Horrifying. [Good, because she's carefully tucking her head under his chin and if an arm goes around his waist, it's because that's just the most logical and comfortable placement.]

'Least I survived, though. Kind of. Not like the time Angel statues send me to a big, vast Nowhere. That sucked.

[Her voice sounds a bit smaller, breathing evening out slowly but surely. Ed would probably recognize it as 'charlie's minutes from falling asleep']

Angel statues. They don't move if you're looking at them. But if you blink, that's it. And they don't burn. [Ffff like you'd shove her off anyway. Except maybe you just might.] I was grabbed by one after it didn't burn and remember being in a weird void.

[He shifts around, sliding an arm around her shoulder, and if anyone asks it's just to make himself comfortable, it has nothing to do with her.]

How can they be statues if they move? That's kind of exactly the opposite of what "statue" means.

[It gets a smile out of her, the arm around her shoulder, and as tired as she is, her tone changes to a happier, more relaxed one which she will deny forever. It has nothing to do with Ed. Nope. Not a thing. except maybe everything. sshhhhh.]

They were aliens, from what I heard. And they're fast. [A sigh, a little more shifting to get comfortable.]...shouldn't ...shouldn't blink around them. S'harder than it sounds.

And it's not even light out, so he can't even sleep. So he'll just be a creeper, wrap his arm around her (to get the maximum warmth out of her, or so he'll say) and just...lays there.]
